Random Team Generator
Enter names separated by commas or new lines, choose how many teams, and get fair random groups.
How it works
Choose whether you want a set number of teams or a set number of people per team. The tool shuffles everyone, places the "keep apart" names on separate teams first, then fills the smallest team each time so the groups stay balanced. Press "Shuffle again" for a fresh draw.
Popular uses
- Pickup games and sports days — list your strongest players under "Keep apart" for evenly matched sides.
- Class projects and study groups — use "People per team" to make groups of 4.
- Events and dinners — set the number of teams to the number of tables for instant seating.

Frequently asked questions
How are the teams split?
The names are shuffled randomly and then dealt out one at a time, always to the team with the fewest people. That keeps team sizes within one person of each other. The shuffle uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator (crypto), so every order is equally likely.
What if some people should not be on the same team?
Type their names in "Keep apart", separated by commas (for example: Alex, Sam). Those people are spread across different teams first, and everyone else is divided after that. If you list more people than there are teams, some of them will have to share a team.
How do I share the result?
Press "Copy result" to copy each team's list as plain text, ready to paste into a group chat, email or document.
