How to sign a PDF without printing it

When a contract or consent form arrives as a PDF, the old routine is print, sign, scan and send it back. This tool does all of that on screen. Create your signature, drag it onto the signature line on the PDF page, adjust the size, and a new PDF is saved with your signature in place. The original text and content of the PDF stay unchanged.

MethodBest forTip
DrawSigning straight from your phoneUse the whole box and draw slowly for smoother lines
Image / stampReusing your usual paper signature or stampShoot on white paper in good light and turn on "Make white background transparent"
TypeForms that only need your printed nameIf the handwriting font can't load, your device's font is used instead

Good to know: a signature added this way is an image signature. Unlike a certificate-based digital signature, it doesn't verify your identity or protect the document from tampering. If the PDF already contains a certificate-based digital signature, adding to it may break that signature's validation. Rotated pages (90°, 180° or 270°) get the signature exactly as you see it on screen.

To send only the pages that need signing, use Split PDF; to bundle the signed PDF with other documents, use Merge PDF. More tools are on the PDF tools page.

Frequently asked questions

Is a signature added here legally valid?

This tool places an image of your signature on the page, which is much like signing on paper and scanning it. It is not a certificate-based digital signature that verifies your identity and detects tampering. Many people accept image signatures for everyday contracts, consent forms and confirmations, but for documents where legal validity really matters, check with the recipient first what kind of signature they accept.

Can I use a photo of my signature or a stamp?

Yes. On the "Image / stamp" tab, upload a photo of your signature or stamp on white paper. Keep "Make white background transparent" switched on and the paper disappears, so the signature sits naturally over the PDF text. Grey backgrounds or shadows may leave traces, so take the photo somewhere bright.

Can I sign more than one page?

Yes. Move through the pages and press "Add signature to this page" each time you want another one. You can add several to the same page, and tapping a page number in the list below jumps to that page so you can adjust the position. Today's date can be added the same way.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Displaying the PDF and saving the signed copy both happen inside your browser on this device. Your signature is never stored or sent anywhere, and it disappears when you close the page.
