Frequently asked questions
Will the Word file look like the original PDF?
Text, paragraphs and simple tables usually carry over and are ready to edit in Word. Complex tables, text boxes and multi-column layouts can shift a little, so give the converted document a quick look before you use it.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
A scanned or photographed PDF stores its text as an image, so the Word file will only contain that image. The page tells you when this happens. If you need the text, convert the PDF to JPG and run it through Image to Text (OCR).
How many pages can I convert?
Up to the first 50 pages per file. For longer documents, split the PDF first and convert each part. Files can be up to 20 MB, and it's free for up to 20 conversions per person per day.
Can I open the result in Google Docs or Pages?
Yes. The output is a standard DOCX file, so it opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Apple Pages and LibreOffice Writer.
Are my files stored on your server?
Converting PDF to Word can't run inside your browser, so your file is sent to the CalcLab server in Seoul. It is deleted right after it's converted, and we don't keep a copy or look at it.
